Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have ended their relationship after nine years together, and Taylor made it clear she was the one who called it. In an Instagram statement, the Teen Mom alum said she left because she was tired of not getting basic respect from the father of her two children. The couple share daughters Mila, six, and Maya, four.

The split comes on the heels of Cory’s flirty on-screen moments with Challenge castmate Izzy Fairthorne during Season 42. Fairthorne later said she felt misled about Cory’s relationship status, and fellow competitor Nelson Thomas apparently tried to warn her. Cory responded with a public apology to Taylor, saying he’s sorry things didn’t work out the way they hoped and that there were times he could’ve been better. He added that he’s focused on his three daughters and his own growth.

For longtime Challenge and Teen Mom viewers, this one stings a little. Fans watched this couple build a family on camera for nearly a decade, and Cory also co-parents Ryder with Cheyenne Floyd. Both of them say their kids come first now, which is the part everyone can agree on. So where do you land: was the apology enough, or was the respect conversation nine years overdue? Tell us in the comments.
