Colman Domingo Reveals He Went to High School With Will Smith: "He Was the Cool Kid and I Was The Nerd"

Colman Domingo and Will Smith have more in common than you’d think. During an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets YouTube show with Lil Dicky and Benny Blanco, Domingo revealed that he and Smith attended the same Philadelphia high school, where they shared gym and science classes. Smith, one grade ahead, was already building his rap career with DJ Jazzy Jeff, and according to Domingo, he was the most popular kid in school. Domingo, meanwhile, described himself as“The Nerd”who spent his time trying not to get beat up.

The two were never friends, and their last real interaction came years later when Domingo was waiting tables at an El Torito in Philadelphia. Smith walked in as a full-blown star, and the two shared a hug. Since then, despite both building major acting careers, they have never crossed paths in Hollywood, something Domingo calls“the weirdest thing.”
