Collin Gosselin is 22 and competing on Season 5 of FOX’s“Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.”When asked about his estranged mother Kate watching, he had a two-word message ready:“Hey, Mom! Hope you enjoy.”The twist? Kate was on Season 1 of that same show and left on day one after a neck injury.

The timing is not accidental. Collin’s memoir,“In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,”arrives Oct. 13. He says writing it was therapeutic and that it will“expose a lot”about child protection. Kate called him“mentally ill”in June when he first announced the book, and when asked if he’s nervous about everything coming out, Collin said,“I’m not the one that should be nervous.”

Collin insists the show isn’t about one-upping Kate. He says it’s about reclaiming his adulthood and growing from a brutal experience. Still, with the book dropping in weeks, the Gosselin family saga has another chapter headed straight for your feed.

Do you think kids who grew up on reality TV need better protections? Sound off in the comments.
