Cliff Richard’s 1976 hit“Devil Woman”is the surprise star of the GTA 6 soundtrack reveal, pulling in a 325 per cent streaming increase among Gen Z listeners after the game’s 26-minute showcase hit Netflix last month. The showcase drew over 31.1 million Netflix views and 33 million on YouTube, and it moved the needle for every track it touched.
The soundtrack bump is not subtle. Captain&Tennille’s“But I Think It’s A Dream”climbed 130,730 per cent in global streams, Depeche Mode’s“People Are People”rose 190 per cent with a 700 per cent lift in playlist additions, and Justice is confirmed to score the game and contribute to its 34-track album. Rockstar reportedly approached Daft Punk first before going with Justice.
The best part is Cliff’s own reaction. He told The Times he has no idea what Grand Theft Auto 6 is and thinks it might be a game show, even after his grand-nephews came screaming,“Dad, it’s Uncle Cliff!”Which legacy artist’s song deserves the next soundtrack revival? Let us know on our socials.
