Chuck Lorre’s upcoming memoir“Sitcom”is already making headlines, and the excerpt published Friday in Vanity Fair takes readers straight into the final days of“Two and a Half Men.”Lorre writes that the last scene shot for the series, featuring Charlie Sheen and Melanie Lynskey, had to be shut down because Sheen couldn’t remember his lines and was using the furniture to stay upright.

The excerpt goes further, with Lorre stating that Lynskey was“terrified”and that the cast spent the show’s final season in what he describes as a constant state of anxiety. Sheen exited the series in 2011 after eight seasons as Charlie Harper, and the show was placed on hiatus and never returned to air.

What keeps this from being a bitter tell-all is the ending. Lorre and Sheen eventually reconciled and worked together again on the Max series“Bookie,”a detail that gives the memoir a note of closure rather than score-settling.

Does knowing what really happened behind the scenes change how you feel about rewatching the show? Tell us in the comments.
