Carl Lentz Says His Affair "Exploded" His Friendship With Justin Bieber

Carl Lentz is telling his side of the story. In a new book with his wife Laura titled“Overcoming Infidelity,”the former Hillsong pastor says his cheating scandal“dragged”Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber“into a publicity nightmare they never asked for.”The friendship that once had Lentz baptizing Bieber in a bathtub in 2014 didn’t survive. When the scandal broke, Bieber’s team called and asked the Lentz family to move out of the singer’s New York City apartment immediately.

The fallout went beyond the friendship. Hillsong fired Lentz in November 2020 over breaches of trust and moral failures, and Laura lost her job at the church too, despite not being implicated in the affair. Lentz says the eviction call was devastating for his wife and kids, who had done nothing wrong.
