According to arrest affidavits obtained by TMZ Sports, Cooper and his girlfriend Jade Fiegen got into a heated dispute over alleged infidelity. The situation spiraled when Fiegen took Cooper’s phone to read messages, and what followed was a sequence of events that landed both of them in custody. Fiegen claims Cooper grabbed her by the neck with one hand, lifted her off her feet and pinned her against the wall for roughly a minute while retrieving his phone. She alleged he then threw her to the ground three times, punched the wall next to her face, and damaged her phone—which contained irreplaceable messages and voice notes from her late mother—by putting it in his mouth.

Cooper’s account differs in key ways. He told officers he held Fiegen by her arms to get his phone back and later used his neck to brace against hers to prevent her from accessing it again. A responding officer did observe a small mark on Fiegen’s neck, a cut on her hand, and scratches on her arm, but noted the markings didn’t align with the severity of what she described. Fiegen also told police she never lost consciousness and didn’t experience any spots in her vision—signs that would indicate strangulation.

Both were arrested for domestic violence and criminal mischief. Fiegen was transported to a hospital for a forensic examination.
