Brittany Snow is marking 17 years of recovery, and she’s sharing the whole journey in detail. The actress revealed that her eating disorder started when she was just 12 years old on the Guiding Light set, where she began emulating dieting actresses and counting every calorie. That led to anorexia, exercise bulimia, depression and self-harm throughout her early career.

Her father intervened when she was 16, getting her into therapy and her first eating disorder diagnosis. She credits him directly:“He saved my life.”Her path wasn’t a straight line, though. She entered inpatient rehab at 19 but left early to film John Tucker Must Die, and at 23 she made the decision to quit acting for a year to complete intensive outpatient therapy at One to One Treatment, a choice she says saved her life.

Snow commemorated the recovery milestone in September 2026 with an Instagram post, writing“Seventeen years ago, I didn’t know if I would make it.”She then detailed the full journey on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. Her story comes down to one clear message: help was there when she needed it, and a kid who was suffering at 12 grew into someone celebrating 17 years.

If someone you care about is showing signs of an eating disorder, talking about it may be the moment that changes everything. Have you ever had a friend or family member step in when you needed it most?
