Britney Spears just gave fans a surprise straight from the vault. On Oct. 9, she released“She’ll Never Be Me,”a previously unheard track recorded for her 2001 album, Britney. The song was co-written by Britney, Justin Timberlake, Bradley Daymond, and Alex Greggs, making it a rare musical reunion from the era when the two were pop’s biggest couple.

The lyrics are already sparking conversation online. Lines like“You know I’m one of a kind / Boy, what’s this I see / Your girl, she looks just like me”have fans dissecting every word. The track will appear on the 25th anniversary expanded edition of Britney, arriving Nov. 6 with 25 songs, including other unreleased cuts and the Pepsi commercial track“Right Now (Taste the Victory).”

Since Britney hasn’t released an album of new material since 2016’s Glory and has said she’s not returning to the music industry, this release feels extra special. Her last collaborations were with will.i.am in 2023 and Elton John in 2022. So which lyric from“She’ll Never Be Me”is stuck in your head? Let us know in the comments.
