Dolly Parton spent her final months doing what she loved most, and her last recording session might be the most Dolly story ever told. Bono revealed to Rolling Stone that back in June, while Dolly was on bed rest during her cancer battle, she got up to record her final vocal performance for U2’s song“Torn.”The track lands on U2’s upcoming album“Carnaval De Luz,”out Nov. 19. She died Aug. 25 at age 80.
Bono said Dolly was incredibly proud of that vocal, and he admitted he“can’t even listen”to her part now. Producer Garret“Jacknife”Lee added that she heard the final mix and was thrilled with it, meaning she knew exactly what she was leaving behind for fans.
The music keeps coming, too. Her posthumous cover“Bound to Ride”dropped earlier this month, and there’s a never-before-heard Dolly track locked in a vault at Dollywood that won’t be released until 2045. Which Dolly era are you most excited to hear next?
