Ben Affleck Reveals Both Parents Died This Year: 'My Parents Just Died, Both of Them'

Ben Affleck is opening up about an unimaginable loss. During the September 30 episode of the“Streets We Grew Up On”podcast, the actor confirmed that both of his parents passed away this year. His father, Timothy Affleck, died in April, and his mother, Chris Anne Affleck, died on June 2 at the age of 83 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2025. Doctors had given her five months to live, and she fought every one of those days.

Chris raised Ben and his brother, fellow Oscar winner Casey Affleck, primarily as a single mother after her divorce from Timothy. The two brothers have stayed incredibly close through this, with Casey first sharing the news at the Venice Film Festival in September, where he dedicated his film“Company”to both of their late parents. Ben fondly recalled how his mom insisted on attending the 1998 Academy Awards with him when“Good Will Hunting”won Best Original Screenplay, admitting they fought about it at the time but now those memories are among his most treasured.

Chris and Timothy are survived by their two sons and five grandchildren. Ben shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, and the whole family is navigating this profound loss together. The Affleck brothers are proof that even in grief, family bonds hold everything together.
