The Backstreet Boys are officially the biggest residency act Rogers Centre has ever seen. The group’s February 2027 run has been extended to nine nights, passing the six-night stands Taylor Swift and The Weeknd each played at the Toronto venue. If all nine dates sell out, close to half a million tickets will move, which is a staggering number for a Canadian winter residency.
The run is also a full-circle moment. Backstreet Boys played the same building in 1998, back when it was called the SkyDome, as one of their first major Toronto shows. Rogers says fan demand from around the world pushed the residency to nine nights. Elsewhere in Canadian music news, Vans Warped Tour will not return to Montreal in 2027, with founder Kevin Lyman pointing toward a possible 2028 comeback instead. And Toronto’s Rogers Stadium logged 272 noise complaints between May and September, a 40% jump from last year, with Bruno Mars and the Chris Brown&Usher shows accounting for more than 30% of them.
So the city’s live music scene is louder and bigger than ever, and not everyone is thrilled about it. Which artist do you think could realistically sell out nine nights at Rogers Centre next?
