Anne Hathaway Kept Her Promise and Vanished in a Smoke Cloud After the "Verity" Premiere

Anne Hathaway said she would disappear after the“Verity”premiere, and she meant it literally. Over the weekend the actress posted a video in which she vanishes from frame in a cartoon gray puff of smoke, right on schedule. Back in September she told Entertainment Tonight that October 3 was the day she’d step away from the spotlight until she had to come back.

There’s a very good reason for the exit. Hathaway is pregnant with her third child with husband Adam Shulman. The couple already shares sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. She has also spoken candidly about her fertility journey, including a past miscarriage and conceiving in her forties, saying she knows from personal experience that not everybody gets this.

The timing is wild:“Verity”opened Friday, October 2, and it capped off a stretch that included four other 2026 releases. Instead of riding the wave, she’s choosing rest, family, and her own timeline. Cue the smoke.
