Kansas City Chiefs fans got a dose of good news today amid a heartbreaking family tragedy. Coach Andy Reid confirmed that Mia Bieniemy, wife of assistant coach Eric Bieniemy, is out of the ICU and making“great”progress after being shot multiple times. The shooting allegedly took place at their Virginia home, involving the couple’s son, Elijah Bieniemy, who is now facing serious charges.

Eric left Chiefs training camp immediately to be with his wife, and Reid made it clear the team supports him putting family first. The 27-year-old Elijah is charged with malicious wounding and related firearm offenses. He’s being held without bond and could face up to 33 years in prison if convicted. His next court appearance is set for today, July 30.

It’s a raw reminder that fame and success don’t shield anyone from personal hardship. The NFL community has been sending love, and as Mia continues her recovery, many are hoping for the best for all involved. What do you think — can a family ever fully heal after something like this?
