Amanda Seyfried just made her debut as a Tiffany&Co. house ambassador, and she did it wearing the most talked-about black turtleneck in modern history. The look is a direct nod to Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced Theranos founder Seyfried played in Hulu’s“The Dropout,”a role that earned her a 2022 Emmy. This time, though, the turtleneck is paired with a $95,000 HardWear pavé diamond necklace, plus a matching bracelet and earrings. Same silhouette, very different story.
The timing is hard to ignore. Seyfried also appears in Nathan Fielder’s Holmes documentary“You Can See Everything,”which just released on Oct. 16, while the real Holmes is serving 11 years and three months in prison for fraud. The campaign photos accompany“You&Me,”a holiday short film directed by Derek Cianfrance that follows a Tiffany ornament through three generations of women. Seyfried said the film captures“how a meaningful gift can hold memories and become part of a family’s story.”
It’s a luxury-fashion and true-crime crossover that’s already sparking debate online: clever callback or too soon? The diamonds definitely soften the blow. Would you wear the look, or is the black turtleneck permanently off-limits? Tell us in the comments.
