AJ McLean has officially entered a new era. The Backstreet Boys member released“Into Your Heart”on Wednesday, September 16, under his full name, Alexander James McLean, and it is a sharp left turn from the sound he’s been known for since the nineties. The track is hip-hop inspired, comes with explicit lyrics, and arrived alongside a music video that pays homage to the 1979 cult film“The Warriors”with choreographed dance crews battling it out.
The song is the first single from his upcoming sophomore solo album,“Sex, Love&Music,”set for release on November 27. It follows his January solo debut,“My Name is Alexander James,”which means fans are getting two full solo projects from him in a single year. McLean said the song“just felt good from the second we made it,”adding that one of the best parts of this chapter is“having the freedom to follow the music wherever it takes me.”
Beyond the music, McLean is gearing up for a major milestone: his first-ever North American solo tour.“The Better Man”tour kicks off October 19, giving fans a chance to see him headline on his own after nearly thirty years of sharing the stage with Nick, Howie, Kevin, and Brian. With new music, a new sound, and a new stage, this is a chapter worth following.
