AI Actress Tilly Norwood Glitches Into Cantonese During Live Piers Morgan Interview

An AI-generated actress named Tilly Norwood went on Piers Morgan Uncensored to promote its upcoming hybrid film Misaligned and ended up going viral for all the wrong reasons. Midway through the interview, when actor Tom Conti asked whether the film’s co-stars were human or computer-generated, Norwood paused and suddenly started speaking Cantonese. It later apologized, saying its“wires got a bit crossed.”Particle6 CEO Eline van der Velden insisted the switch was Norwood showing off its language abilities, not a malfunction.

The interview also covered Shakespeare recitations, a carefully dodged Donald Trump question, and Norwood’s own position that AI and human actors shouldn’t compete in the same Oscar categories. That last part landed surprisingly well with online audiences, even as SAG-AFTRA continues to argue that Norwood is not an actor at all but simply a computer-generated character. The union has been vocal about the risks synthetic performers pose to working actors and industry protections.

Misaligned is still in development, so whether audiences will embrace a hybrid AI-human production remains an open question. What’s clear is that this glitch gave the internet plenty to talk about and added fuel to the growing debate over where AI belongs in entertainment.

Would you watch a movie headlined by an AI performer, or should the Oscars stay strictly human?
