You already see ads on your phone, your TV, the gas pump, and probably the back of a bathroom stall. Now people say they’re showing up in their dreams too. Reddit and Facebook users have been describing product placement and full commercial breaks interrupting their sleep, and a 2026 survey from The Media Image found 61 percent of Americans report ad-like content in their dreams. Thirty-eight percent of those say it happens frequently, anywhere from once a month to every day, and 41 percent believe ads are actively infiltrating their dreams.

Dr Daniel Atkinson, Clinical Lead at Treated, says the explanation is simpler than a sci-fi plot. It’s not corporate mind control. It’s heavy daily exposure to advertising plus highly memorable, visually striking campaigns that your brain processes and replays during REM sleep. In other words, whatever you scroll past all day has a decent chance of showing up on the night shift.

His recommendation is a screen curfew of at least an hour before bed, paired with a mindful or meditative activity to give your brain space to filter out the day’s images. Whether anyone actually follows that advice is another story. So we want to know: has an ad ever appeared in one of your dreams, and did it work on you?
