ADÉLA brought the Red Bottoms Tour to the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, Oct. 8, and the sold-out crowd got the full package: bright pink hair, a silver two-piece, and a set built on serious choreography. As a trained ballerina and dancer, she doesn’t just sing through a show, she performs it, and night one in LA was no exception. Billboard ran exclusive photos from the night, shot by Christopher Polk.
The backstage moment might be the best part, though. Megan Skiendiel and Lara Raj from KATSEYE, along with Emily Kelavos of Saint Satine, all came through to support. The three share a history with ADÉLA from their Dream Academy days, and they were visibly emotional watching her headline her own show.
The hype is well earned. Her debut album PRIMA dropped in September and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.“Ain’t in LA”reached No. 27 on the Hot 100, and“Nicole Kidman”has climbed all the way to No. 11. ADÉLA told Billboard she never doubted it would happen, saying she has heart and something to say. Night two at the Fonda is Friday, so the LA run isn’t over yet.
