Aaron Sorkin's Facebook Sequel 'The Social Reckoning' Is Getting Roasted by Critics

Aaron Sorkin is back in the Facebook universe with‘The Social Reckoning,’and the reviews are not the vibe. The film follows Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White, and whistleblower Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, as they dig into how Facebook’s algorithm pushed users toward extremist content. The movie is built around one stat: 64 percent, the share of users steered into extremist groups by the platform.

Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg as an unrepentant sociopath, and that’s where critics say the film goes wrong. Slate’s review calls it airless, preachy, and even misogynistic, arguing that turning Zuckerberg into a flat villain loses what made 2010’s‘The Social Network’so gripping. The sequel also drops a wild line about journalists being megalomaniacs dressed up as truthtellers, which is a strange note for a movie about exposing the truth.

The bigger question is whether any of this lands in 2026. Facebook’s role in spreading misinformation and extremism is still a live issue, and whistleblower stories keep mattering. But a heavy-handed movie might just make people tune out a topic that deserves attention. So we want to know: are you planning to watch‘The Social Reckoning,’or is‘The Social Network’still the only Facebook movie you need? Sound off.
