The 2026 VMAs are stacking up to be one of the biggest nights in recent memory. Airing live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS, MTV and Paramount+, the show will open with Madonna for a record fifth time, marking her first VMA performance in 23 years. Snoop Dogg hosts and executive produces, with presenters including Charli xcx, Teyana Taylor, Tyla and Troye Sivan.

The night is packed with tributes and firsts. Kacey Musgraves will honor Dolly Parton, while RAYE, SOMBR and Teddy Swims team up for a George Michael tribute. Nirvana receives the Video Vanguard Award, and Taylor Swift will accept the inaugural Artist Director honor while premiering the video for“Patient Zero.”

And here’s the twist: the whole show runs just two hours. No marathon runtime, no filler. Madonna, Taylor, Nirvana, Dolly, George Michael and Snoop, all before 9:30. Which performance are you most excited to see?
