Zachary Levi is best known for saving the world in a cape, but his latest role has him on the other side of the law. In“Angel and the Badman,”now in theaters from Angel Studios, Levi plays Quirt Evans, a feared outlaw who is wounded and taken in by a rancher’s daughter named Penny and her family. The compassion he receives there gives him a shot at leaving his violent past behind, and Levi says that redemption arc is exactly what drew him to the script.
Speaking with ChurchLeaders, Levi explained his love for Westerns but said the character growth mattered most.“I just love a good redemption story. I love a good character arc. I love growth,”he said, describing the film as the story of a man who is really only out for himself until the love of a good woman and her family change him. Levi framed that love as God’s love infusing through them, adding that no character is beyond God’s love and grace.
The film also stars Neal McDonough, Tommy Lee Jones, and Meg Fraser, giving it serious star power alongside its message. Faith-based films keep finding bigger audiences, and stories about second chances tend to connect across the board. So we want to hear from you: what movie redemption arc still gets you every single time?
