A band of twelve high school students from Pacific Palisades has decided to face the not-so-quiet crisis of environmental waste head-on by launching an initiative called Another Bounce. Their mission? To tackle the staggering amount of tennis and pickleballs that fill landfills annually—approximately 500 million of those pesky little orbs! With their sights set on establishing a Guinness World Record for the most balls recycled, they’re gearing up for a major collection event on Earth Day, April 19.

The teens have partnered with Ridwell in Los Angeles, who will be processing the recycled materials into products such as plant pots and even carpet! This isn’t just about collecting balls; they’re also making a bold statement to manufacturers like Penn and Wilson, urging them to take responsibility for their products through take-back programs. By raising awareness and advocating for a circular economy, these passionate student-athletes are setting a prime example of how youth can drive real change. Looks like the future might just be in capable hands—who knew saving the planet could be this cool?
