The Neighbourhood’s“Sweater Weather”officially passed five billion Spotify streams on Monday, becoming just the third song in Spotify history to reach that number. The 2013 breakout is also the platform’s most playlisted track, sitting on over 103 million user-created playlists. Not bad for a song written by teenagers in a living room.
The track peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit No. 1 on Alternative Airplay, and its staying power has only grown. Annual streams increased more than sevenfold between 2019 and 2024, with a reliable surge every autumn. Guitarist Zach Abels credits the song’s intimate mood and its themes of comfort and closeness, saying it now feels bigger than the band itself. The YouTube video also recently crossed one billion views.
The band is still building. Their latest album, Ultrasound, arrived in November 2025 and peaked at No. 20 on Top Alternative Albums, with a sold-out world tour behind it. But five billion streams and a permanent spot in the autumnal rotation is the headline here.
