The Knicks are champions, but the victory lap has hit a political speed bump. Spike Lee went public telling the team to skip the traditional White House visit with President Trump, saying owner James Dolan can’t force the players to attend. According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Dolan is frustrated that players don’t want to make the trip, a tension Coach Mike Brown says the organization is handling internally.

Lee didn’t stop there. He also blamed Trump’s appearance at the Finals for ending New York’s 13-game winning streak, and the defending champs have since stumbled to a 3-4 start. Whether you buy the curse or not, the timing gives the debate plenty of fuel for talk radio.

The pressure point is December 18th, when the Knicks return to Washington to face the Wizards. If no visit is announced by then, the silence will say plenty. Should the players make the call, or does the organization? Let us know where you stand.
