Spencer Pratt's AI-Powered Dream of a Cleaner, Safer L.A.

Spencer Pratt is betting that Los Angeles voters are ready to trade dysfunction for common sense — and he’s using cutting-edge artificial intelligence to make his pitch.

The former reality TV star dropped a new campaign ad this week that reads less like traditional politics and more like a vision board brought to life by AI. Created by Charlie Curran, the video walks through an alternate Los Angeles where firefighters have water in the reservoirs, police can actually arrest criminals, and people walking dogs don’t worry about stepping in human waste. It sounds simple. It sounds obvious. It also sounds like exactly what Pratt’s betting will resonate with voters tired of the city’s escalating quality-of-life issues.

The messaging is pointed but straightforward: empty promises and political theater have failed L.A., and what the city needs is someone willing to enforce basic order and tackle neglected infrastructure. Pratt frames this around the wildfires that devastated the city last year — the same fires that burned down his own house and sparked his mayoral run in the first place. That’s not a coincidence. It’s the kind of personal stake that can anchor a campaign message, especially when paired with specific problems (water in reservoirs for firefighters, actual law enforcement, clean streets) rather than vague platitudes.

What’s notable here is the production value and the willingness to lean into AI-generated content. This isn’t Pratt’s first high-concept ad either — Charlie Curran also recently created a Batman-inspired spot with Pratt battling prominent Democrats in a hellscape vision of L.A. The strategy seems to be: don’t just tell voters what you’d do, show them an entirely reimagined city. It’s a tactic that blurs the line between campaign messaging and sci-fi speculation, which is either brilliant or completely unhinged depending on your take.

The stakes are real. The Los Angeles mayoral primary is set for June 2, and Pratt has genuine momentum. He’s locked in endorsements from former“The Hills”castmates and even landed a maximum-allowable donation from former Lakers owner Jeanie Buss. He came out swinging in the first mayoral debate against incumbent Karen Bass and City Councilmember Nithya Raman, and if he wins big in the primary, he’s already trademarking the narrative: a“Pratt Summer”for the city.

Whether AI-generated visions of a functioning city are enough to sway voters remains to be seen. But Pratt’s clearly banking on one thing: that Angelenos are desperate enough for results that they’re willing to believe in the possibility of change, even when it’s rendered by a computer.
