Ryan Reynolds Spoke Up: Blake Lively Settles It Ends With Us Lawsuit

When a Hollywood dispute lands in depositions and courtroom filings, the details that emerge often tell a messier story than the headlines suggest. Blake Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni over It Ends With Us has been no exception—and newly released deposition testimony reveals exactly what went down when the tension between the two finally came to a head.

According to Lively’s January deposition, the confrontation happened in April 2023 when Baldoni visited her office to discuss script revisions. That’s when Lively brought up something that had been bothering her: she was aware of an upsetting conversation Baldoni had about her weight. She told him the discussion felt invasive and inappropriate. Here’s where it gets interesting—Ryan Reynolds, her husband, was in the office at the time and briefly joined in on the conversation. Hugh Jackman also stopped by, shook Baldoni’s hand, and then left with Reynolds.

The deposition directly contradicts earlier claims that Taylor Swift witnessed the exchange. Lively was clear on this point: no one but Baldoni, herself, and Reynolds was in the office during that discussion. Swift’s team has repeatedly denied any involvement in the film beyond licensing her song My Tears Ricochet, and a judge ultimately blocked Baldoni’s attempt to depose the singer, determining it fell outside the discovery timeline.

The weight conversation itself stemmed from Baldoni allegedly contacting Lively’s fitness trainer without her knowledge or permission, implying he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks. Baldoni’s legal team countered that he’d only reached out because he’d have to lift her in a scene and was worried about aggravating a longstanding back injury—a claim that frames the whole dispute in starkly different terms.

Nearly two years into the legal battle, both sides finally reached a settlement before their scheduled May trial date. Lively had sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and lost wages back in December 2024. Baldoni denied all allegations and filed a countersuit in January, though that suit was later dismissed. The settlement brings closure to a case that became a tabloid fixture, especially after Swift’s name got pulled into the orbit despite her minimal involvement with the actual film.
