When Prince Harry touches down in Birmingham, England next month for the Invictus Games events, there won’t be a brotherly reunion waiting in the wings—at least not according to those in the know about the inner workings of the royal family.

According to Hello! royal editor Emily Nash, speaking on Royally Us, there’s simply no plan for Harry to meet with his brother, Prince William. The communication has gone silent between the two, a reality that Nash describes with genuine sadness, acknowledging how much this distance costs everyone involved. But busy lives and unresolved tensions have created a gulf that won’t easily close—not on this trip, anyway.

The relationship between the brothers has been strained for years, and while Harry, 41, appears to have made some headway with his father, King Charles III, 77, the William situation remains frozen. Nash reveals that Harry and King Charles do communicate, though the path to reconciliation remains thorny. The father and son briefly reconnected in September 2025 for the first time in two years, a meeting described by insiders as“super positive and very relaxed,”complete with hugs and tears. Yet Nash cautions that any future meeting during this July visit would require perfect diary alignment and genuine willingness from both sides—two tall orders given the circumstances.

As for the broader dynamic, Nash doesn’t sugarcoat it: there’s been“a lot of difficulty”between father and son, plenty of things have been said, and while some of it might feel like water under the bridge, the underlying strain will likely linger. Harry’s July visit will mark another moment where the distances within the royal family are measured not in miles, but in the conversations that aren’t happening and the meetings that won’t take place.
