Richard Gere Hasn't Watched His Son's Steamy Euphoria Scene Yet

When your dad is Richard Gere, the bar for an acting debut is set impossibly high. But Homer Gere, the 76-year-old legend’s 26-year-old son, seems to be handling the pressure with the kind of grace that suggests he inherited more than just good looks from Pretty Woman.

In a conversation with People on Tuesday, June 9, Richard revealed he’s actually been keeping up with Euphoria—just not quite all of it. The legendary actor admitted he still needs to catch up to episode 7, the penultimate installment of season 3, where Homer’s character Dylan Reid shares an NSFW scene with Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard. In that moment, Cassie’s character is making a calculated play to rebuild her social media following after ditching her OnlyFans account. It’s the kind of bold storytelling that Sam Levinson’s hit show is known for, and it marks a pretty significant moment for Homer’s young career.

But here’s what’s fascinating: Richard isn’t fazed by the provocative nature of his son’s scenes. Instead, the veteran actor is genuinely impressed by Homer’s work ethic and talent. He told People that Homer“really kind of preternaturally knows what he’s doing,”and praised how well his son is handling the entire experience. It’s the kind of parental pride that feels earned—Richard noted that acting isn’t easy for everyone, but Homer“gets it”and“can stay”in the game if he wants to.

What makes this moment even more interesting is that Homer’s trajectory looks nothing like a typical Hollywood nepotism story. He arrived at acting almost by accident, after earning degrees in visual arts and psychology from Brown University, which he completed in May 2024. His entry into the industry came through student films, where he was writing, directing, and acting—just having fun with the craft. One thing led to another, and suddenly he’s on Euphoria and lined up for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming drama The Shards, where he’ll star alongside Kaia Gerber and others.

Richard sees his son’s path as fluid, not predetermined.“I don’t think he’s got to make a life choice to commit to this,”the Pretty Woman star said, suggesting Homer could pivot to something entirely different if the mood struck—maybe rock climbing, he joked. That kind of perspective from a titan of the industry is refreshing. It’s not“carry on the legacy at all costs.”It’s“you’re talented, you’re handling this well, and ultimately you’re free to choose your own adventure.”

For now, Homer’s adventure looks pretty solid. Between his Ryan Murphy commitments, his work on The Shards, and the buzz from Euphoria, he’s built genuine momentum on his own terms. And maybe, just maybe, his dad will finally catch up to that episode soon.
