When a reality TV appearance becomes part of your public persona, the spotlight can feel endless. But for Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, a former guest on“Below Deck Sailing Yacht,”that spotlight is now burning in a very different direction—one illuminating allegations of child sex trafficking and abuse spanning over a decade.

A man who claims to be a distant relative of Drewitt-Barlow filed a lawsuit this week detailing years of systematic abuse that allegedly began in 2014 when he was just 16 years old. According to the suit, Drewitt-Barlow offered him a job and housing, a proposal that seemed like an escape route for a vulnerable teenager. Instead, it became the entrance to what the accuser describes as a calculated trap involving sexual abuse, alcohol supplied to a minor, and a deliberate pattern of control designed to prevent escape.

The allegations paint a harrowing picture of manipulation across borders. The abuse allegedly occurred in the United Kingdom, multiple other countries, and several U.S. states including New Jersey, where court documents indicate the accuser lived with Drewitt-Barlow for a period. The lawsuit claims that when the young man tried to leave multiple times, he was met with harsh punishment—a classic trafficking tactic designed to break resistance and rebuild dependence. Beyond the physical abuse, Drewitt-Barlow allegedly photographed and filmed the accuser naked, then posted those images to social media without consent, compounding the violation.

This civil lawsuit arrives amid an already-serious criminal landscape. Drewitt-Barlow was arrested and charged with rape, sexual assault, and other sex-related crimes earlier in 2026, with prosecutors alleging offenses between 2013 and 2026 in the UK. His ex-husband, Anthony Drewitt-Barlow, had his Florida home raided by federal agents in 2025—a move that suddenly makes sense in hindsight, given what authorities were apparently investigating.

The accuser’s legal team, Laura Laughlin and Doug Fierberg, framed this case as one about the weaponization of wealth and influence against a child. They’re seeking at least $25 million in compensatory damages. Their statement cuts to the heart of why cases like this matter:“This case is about the calculated use of wealth, influence, and power to gain the trust of a vulnerable child, to silence that child, and subject him to years of sexual abuse and exploitation.”It’s a reminder that a reality TV credit doesn’t inoculate anyone from accountability—and that coming forward, as this accuser has done, takes extraordinary courage when your abuser has resources most people could never match.
