Philippine Police Say Investigation Into Meghan Markle's Father Is "Going in the Right Direction"

Philippine National Police have issued their first real update on the investigation into Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan Markle. The acting director of the national police said the probe is“going in the right direction”and that a case will be filed if the evidence is sufficient. No charges have been filed so far.

The investigation began after Markle’s son, Thomas Markle Jr., reported allegedly finding hundreds of child sex abuse images at his father’s former home in Cebu City, alerting both local police and the FBI. The FBI and US authorities are now running their own parallel investigation, and Mexican authorities reportedly raided a storage unit Markle rented in Rosarito, where he lived from 2016 to 2025. Markle Sr., 82, has denied the accusations as“lies,”and has reportedly been moved into a dementia care home in Lakeland, Florida.

Meghan Markle said she was“deeply distressed”by the allegations, while Markle Sr.’s daughter Samantha has publicly backed him. With three countries now involved and the facts still developing, this is a story worth following closely rather than reacting to in the moment.
