Oklahoma Puts Mending Health Insurance Into Conservatorship: What Marketplace Members in Lawton Need to Know

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready placed Mending Health Insurance in Oklahoma Inc. into conservatorship on Friday, following three months of administrative supervision over the company’s finances. Mending Health, formerly known as Taro Health, is a licensed health maintenance organization founded in 2021, and it had already filed to withdraw from the Oklahoma marketplace effective Dec. 31. Donna Wilson of the Oklahoma Receivership Office will serve as conservator.

For members, the practical details matter most: policies remain in effect for now, and premiums must continue to be paid. The plan will not be renewable for the 2027 plan year, and the state is coordinating with the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight to help members find new coverage during open enrollment. Mulready said consumer protection is the department’s number one priority and called conservatorship a necessary step given the company’s financial situation.

If your family relies on a marketplace plan, whether you’re stationed at Fort Sill or rooted here in Comanche County, this is a good week to review your options and check your enrollment deadlines. Coverage questions can go to the Oklahoma Insurance Department, and free enrollment help is available through marketplace navigators. What questions do you have about your health coverage heading into next year? Let us know.
