NFL Anchor's Night Spirals Into Felony Arrest

One of the Los Angeles Rams’most reliable offensive linemen woke up Monday night in a jail cell instead of his home. Alaric Jackson, the team’s starting left tackle and a foundational piece of the Rams’offensive line, was arrested on felony domestic battery charges early Tuesday morning after Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a San Fernando Valley home around 11 PM.

The incident began as a verbal argument over Jackson allegedly being filmed without consent. According to the police investigation, a woman at the residence was filming Jackson with her phone when the confrontation escalated. Jackson allegedly attempted to take the phone from her, leaving her with scratch marks on her arm in the process. By 12:30 AM, officers had taken the 27-year-old into custody and booked him at the LAPD’s Valley Jail just before 4:30 AM.

Jackson’s journey to becoming one of the league’s better tackles makes this moment all the more jarring. The 6’7″, 340-pound lineman went undrafted out of Iowa in 2021, a longshot who signed with the Rams and worked his way into becoming the anchor of the team’s offensive line. That kind of underdog story—undrafted to NFL anchor—is exactly the narrative that builds fan loyalty and respect. Now, at 27, he’s facing felony charges with bond set at $50,000 and his future both on and off the field suddenly uncertain.

The Rams now face questions about his status on the roster and how this impacts their offensive line depth heading into the season. For Jackson, the immediate concern is much more personal: his legal situation and what comes next as the case develops.
