Nearly 90 MPH, Fleeing Police: Lindsie Chrisley's DUI Arrest

A Saturday afternoon traffic stop in Canton, Georgia turned into something far more serious for TV personality Lindsie Chrisley. According to a newly released Cherokee Sheriff’s Office report obtained by Us Weekly on May 27, the 36-year-old was operating a black or green Ford Bronco at speeds approaching 90 miles per hour while allegedly fleeing from police.

The chain of events began when officers responded to reports of a reckless driver on East Cherokee Drive and Ranchwood Trail. A BOLO (Be on the Look Out) had been issued after witnesses spotted the Bronco speeding, tailgating, and flashing high beams. When one officer attempted to pull the vehicle over by activating emergency lights, the driver allegedly accelerated instead of stopping. The responding officer noted that Chrisley continued past multiple suitable stopping locations before finally coming to a halt at a gas station.

Once the officer made contact with Chrisley, her explanation centered on defensive driving. She claimed a car ahead had nearly hit a deer and she’d had to swerve to avoid it. However, her account of her own speed proved inconsistent. The officer documented that she’d been traveling at 86 MPH, yet when confronted, Chrisley first admitted to driving nearly 90 MPH before recanting and denying she’d reached that speed at all.

The situation escalated from there. The officer noted signs suggesting alcohol involvement—breath that smelled of alcohol and slurred speech. When asked to perform a field sobriety test, Chrisley initially refused, though she later expressed willingness to participate after she’d already been taken into custody. Her stated reason for driving through the neighborhood: she was picking up Travis Evans and bringing him to his mother’s house because the woman was dying.

Chrisley was arrested and charged with DUI less safe (a Georgia statute that can result in charges even below the standard 0.08 percent blood alcohol concentration threshold), attempting to elude police, improper passing, reckless driving, and speeding. She was booked that night and released the following day after posting bond totaling $5,206 across all charges. In a statement to TMZ, Chrisley maintained her version of events, saying she was simply trying to avoid hitting an animal and planned to fight the charges. The convergence of high speed, alleged flight from police, and impairment indicators paints a picture that goes well beyond a simple traffic violation.
