Miley is starting over, and this time the name is part of the statement. She’s officially going by just Miley, dropping“Cyrus”from album promotion entirely, and her new record“Bass Persuades”arrived Friday, Sept. 17. It’s her first release on Atlantic Records after switching from Columbia earlier this year, and she built the ten-track set with Kid Harpoon, Maxx Morando, Michael Pollack and The Monsters&Strangerz.
Billboard ranked every song, which means the debates have already started.“Aftermath”is being called the clear highlight of the album, while“Innocent Ways”has fans convinced there’s a Noah Cyrus connection hiding in the lyrics. The closer,“Bass Persuades Remixx,”didn’t win the reviewers over. For a record this tight, one miss is not bad math.
If you want to hear it all live, Miley plays two shows at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend with Model/Actriz opening. As she put it herself,“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on.”So which track on“Bass Persuades”is your favorite? Tell us in the comments.
