He said Ed Sheeran had already asked him to commit $2 million to match Sheeran’s own donation for humanitarian aid, adding that the two plan to reach out to other venue owners to“build bridges.”What Kraft did not say: whether he’s actually committing the money, when it would happen, or which organizations would receive it. His company didn’t clarify when asked.

The backstory is where it gets messy. Macklemore was removed from Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour after making pro-Palestinian statements at MetLife Stadium. He has alleged that Kraft threatened to cancel Sheeran’s Gillette Stadium shows unless he was dropped from the lineup. Kraft has countered by citing what he describes as a history of antisemitic rhetoric from Macklemore. In a move that surprised plenty of people, every remaining opening act on the tour dropped out in support of Macklemore.
