Four transfers in five years. That’s the revolving door reality for Josh Duggar, the former 19 Kids and Counting star now serving time at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City after being convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography.
On June 29, Duggar, 38, landed at yet another facility—this time in Oklahoma City—marking his fourth move since his May 2022 sentencing to 151 months in prison. His journey through the federal system has taken him from the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas (where he was initially held after his April 2021 arrest) to the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, Texas, then briefly to the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, before landing in Oklahoma.
The constant shuffling isn’t random, according to Duggar’s attorney, Beau Brindley. Following a court hearing where alleged mail-tampering violations by correctional officers at Seagoville were raised, Brindley told TMZ that his client was transferred as a result. Duggar’s legal team characterizes the moves as punitive rather than routine—a claim the Bureau of Prisons disputes, citing medical concerns and institutional safety as standard reasons for inmate relocations.
What makes this latest transfer notable is location: Oklahoma City sits just under 220 miles from where Duggar’s wife, Anna Duggar, and their seven children live. The Federal Transfer Center, however, is a temporary holding facility, meaning Oklahoma City likely won’t be Duggar’s final destination. According to his Bureau of Prisons file, he’s scheduled for release in February 2033.
The broader context here matters. Duggar has filed three appeals since his incarceration, all denied. His most recent attempt—a motion to vacate his sentence filed in 2025—was rejected by a judge in early June after missing the deadline by over a month. Duggar claimed postage issues were to blame, but the judge wasn’t buying it, writing that the explanation defied common sense. He’s since filed another appeal challenging that decision, which remains pending. Meanwhile, his wife has stood by his side throughout, even assisting with legal filings from the outside. It’s a story of conviction, appeals, and a legal fight that shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
