Jimmy Kimmel's Savage U-Haul Offer to Spencer Pratt

Spencer Pratt had one job: win the Los Angeles mayoral race, or pack up and leave town. He didn’t do the first thing, so late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is making sure he follows through on the second.

During the Tuesday, June 9 broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 58-year-old host roasted The Hills alum over his failed campaign against incumbent Karen Bass, 72, and city council member Nithya Raman, 44, who advanced to a runoff election this fall. Back in January, the 42-year-old Pratt had announced his mayoral bid with a bold promise attached: lose the primary, and he was done with Los Angeles. It didn’t work out.

“He said he was done with L.A., and Spencer, if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go,”Kimmel deadpanned, before pivoting to the kicker. The host revealed that his team had rented Pratt a fully furnished U-Haul—complete with beds, tables, chairs, and“all your crystals, whatever you want”—to ease the financial burden of his exit. The jab at the money was sharp: Kimmel noted that Pratt’s campaign coffers were likely drying up now that“out-of-state donation money is running out.”

Pratt had explained his exit strategy back in April while staying at the Hotel Bel-Air with his wife, Heidi Montag, 39, and their family after losing their Pacific Palisades home in the 2025 wildfires. He’d framed his mayoral ambition not as a political grab but as a rescue mission:“I’m not doing this to lose, I’m doing this to win and save the city. My point [was], if I don’t win, L.A. is done, and it’s not going to be livable. It’s going to be out of a dystopian nightmare movie.”

Now, with his poll numbers firmly in third place and his doomsday prediction hanging over him, Pratt faces the uncomfortable reality of following through. Kimmel’s parting shot? An offer to drop the U-Haul at the Bel-Air hotel and a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that Pratt could“maybe be mayor”or“finish in third place”wherever he lands next—perhaps even getting a reality TV season out of the relocation. Whether Pratt takes the host up on it remains to be seen, but the clock is ticking on his promise to go.
