Rob Gronkowski turned Election Day in Bedford, New Hampshire into a one-man tailgate. The four-time Super Bowl champ spent Tuesday outside a Turning Point USA tent waving a U.S. flag at passing cars and posing for photos with voters, telling reporters the air was brisk and the people were wonderful. Gov. Kelly Ayotte even shared a photo with Gronkowski and his girlfriend, Camille Kostek.
He wasn’t alone in the spotlight, either. Floyd Mayweather, former Red Sox All-Star Kevin Youkilis and former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola were all spotted near TPUSA events elsewhere in the state, which set off plenty of speculation about a coordinated celebrity push. A source close to TPUSA’s Election Day activities told Blaze News the organization was not involved in Gronkowski’s appearance, despite the media chatter.
Through it all, Gronk’s message stayed simple: it doesn’t matter which side you’re voting for, it just matters that you come out and vote. Whether that’s civic duty or something more calculated is the debate of the day. So we have to ask: do celebrity athletes at the polls make you more likely to vote, or does it just feel like a photo op?
