Glee is officially coming back. Disney+ and Hulu announced the revival on October 21, 2026, and co-creator Ryan Murphy says the reboot script is already finished. Lea Michele is reportedly set to reprise her role as Rachel Berry, while Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet are both hinting at involvement. The original series ran from 2009 to 2015 and became a defining pop culture phenomenon for an entire generation.

The announcement also revived the conversation around what fans call the“Glee curse.”Cory Monteith died in 2013 at age 31 from an accidental overdose. Mark Salling died by suicide in 2018 after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography. Naya Rivera drowned in 2020 at age 33 after getting her young son safely back onto a rented boat at Lake Piru. Kevin McHale has called the curse talk diabolical and untethered to reality, while Lea Michele has said Monteith’s death fractured her relationship with her castmates.

There’s also the 2020 workplace bullying allegations against Michele, which she addressed with an apology, plus abuse disclosures from Melissa Benoist and Blake Jenner. So the reboot arrives with real baggage attached, and how it handles that history could define whether it works. Do you think the show should address the cast’s off-screen history head-on, or keep the focus on the music? Sound off in the comments.
