Gemma Chan's Oscars Dress Had Pockets for Snacks and We're Obsessed

Gemma Chan is out here living her best life and telling us all about it. During New York Fashion Week, she co-hosted a Bloomingdale’s dinner celebrating her Cultured magazine cover, and she took a minute to look back on her favorite red carpet moment of all time. That would be the neon pink Valentino gown she wore to the 2019 Oscars, which she loved for a very practical reason: it had pockets. And she kept snacks in them. If that’s not the most relatable celebrity flex, we don’t know what is.

She also gave an update on the long-awaited Crazy Rich Asians sequel. The short version: still not confirmed, but she’s crossing her fingers and wants it to happen just as much as fans do. In the meantime, her indie drama Josephine is generating serious awards buzz after sweeping top honors at Sundance, and it opens in theaters in November. Add in season two of Peacock’s The Five-Star Weekend, and she’s having a very busy year.
