From Reality TV to Restraining Orders: The Derricos' Messy Legal Battle Heats Up

When a reality TV marriage implodes, the fallout can be brutal. But the situation unfolding between TLC’s Karen Derrico and her ex-husband Deon has crossed into genuinely troubling territory — and now criminal charges are involved.

Karen Derrico, star of Doubling Down With the Derricos, has been arrested in Las Vegas and is facing a serious slate of charges: harassment, violating a restraining order, preventing a witness from testifying through threat of violence, and aggravated stalking. According to prosecutors, the alleged victims are Deon and his children.

Here’s where it gets dark. Legal documents obtained by TMZ detail claims that Karen sent multiple emails to Deon telling him she could kill him — and that she didn’t care about going to jail for it. The allegations also include threats to kill any of their kids who sided with Deon during the split, and threats to kill him if he showed up to a restraining order hearing. That’s not garden-variety post-divorce anger. That’s criminal territory.

The backstory matters here. Karen and Deon divorced in summer 2024 after their five-season run documenting their chaotic life with 14 children. But even after the split, they continued living together for financial reasons and to keep the massive family unit intact. As it became clear they wouldn’t reconcile, things deteriorated. Karen allegedly got upset, moved out earlier this year with four of the children, and that’s when the threatening emails allegedly started flying.

Karen’s attorney, Jess Marchese, is mounting a counteroffensive — claiming Deon sent the threats to himself and faked Karen’s involvement to sabotage her. They’re working with tech experts to prove it, and Karen maintains her complete innocence, insisting she would never threaten harm to her children. She’s currently out on a $2,000 bond with an ankle monitor.

Whether this turns out to be a case of escalated custody warfare gone criminal, or a genuine threat situation, it’s a stark reminder of how quickly high-conflict divorces involving multiple children can spiral. The stakes here aren’t just emotional — they’re legal, and they’re serious.
