When you’ve got a family drama this deep, the headlines practically write themselves. The Giudice family has spent years collecting legal troubles like some people collect reality TV accolades—and with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice in the mix, there’s always an audience watching.

The latest chapter hit in May 2026 when Milania Giudice, the third-eldest daughter of Teresa and her ex-husband Joe Giudice, was arrested for assault following a domestic violence incident in Montville Township. According to Chief Andrew Caggiano, the Montville Township Police Department responded to a dispute on May 14, 2026, and Milania was charged with one count of Simple Assault, a Disorderly Persons Offense. She was released pending her court appearance, with a hearing held on May 19. A plea hasn’t yet been entered.

But here’s the thing: Milania’s arrest is just the latest ripple in a family pond that’s been turbulent for over a decade. Back in July 2013, Teresa and Joe were hit with 41 counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, and bank fraud—plus charges related to making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. The accusations centered on fraudulent mortgage and loan applications they’d submitted after filing for bankruptcy in 2009. Both initially pleaded not guilty before ultimately taking plea deals in March 2014. Teresa served approximately 11 of her 15-month sentence from January to December 2015. Joe’s punishment was harsher: he completed a 41-month prison sentence in March 2019 and was subsequently deported to his native Italy.

Fast forward to March 2025, and the legal headaches hadn’t stopped. Teresa and her second husband, Luis“Louie”Ruelas, whom she married in 2022, were reported to have received more than $3 million in tax liens. Court documents obtained at the time showed Teresa owes $303,889.20, while Louie owes nearly $2.6 million. Despite the serious financial allegations, neither has publicly commented on the claims. But Gia, one of Teresa and Joe’s daughters, stepped up to defend her family on her“Casual Chaos”podcast in March 2025, insisting that“My mom has everything under control, and there’s nothing to worry about,”and praising Luis as“the most amazing stepfather.”

What makes this saga so compelling isn’t just the legal missteps—it’s the pattern. From federal fraud charges to tax liens to now an assault arrest involving one of their children, the Giudice family’s journey reads like a cautionary tale about fame, finances, and the long shadow that legal troubles can cast across generations. Whether Milania’s case will follow a similar trajectory or represent a turning point for the family remains to be seen.
