Frankie Muniz is opening up about one of the hardest stretches of his life. In an Instagram post Friday, the 40-year-old actor said the last six weeks have been“a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from,”adding that he’s hit rock bottom. The post comes roughly two months after he announced he and wife Paige Price were divorcing after 10 years together, an announcement he deleted amid backlash.

Muniz, who shares 5-year-old son Mauz with Price and recently reprised his role as Malcolm in the“Malcolm in the Middle”revival, didn’t stop at the low point. He said rock bottom can force real change and uncomfortable self-reflection, and that he believes he’ll look back on this season with gratitude. He also had a message for anyone in a similar place:“You’re not broken. You’re being rebuilt.”

Celebrity honesty about mental health and divorce hits differently when it comes from someone you literally grew up watching. Muniz isn’t selling a comeback narrative here, he’s describing the middle of the mess, which is exactly the part most people hide. And with a five-year-old son and a racing career in the mix, the stakes are about as real as they get.

Have you ever had a rock bottom moment that ended up rebuilding you? Tell us in the comments.
