Exes on Vacation: When Co-Parenting Gets Petty

Divorce doesn’t have to mean you can’t share a beach chair—or at least the same resort. Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker, who finalized their split earlier this year after being married from 2014, are proving that co-parenting can coexist with the occasional jab. The Real Housewives star and her ex took their kids on a family vacation together, and while the trip has reportedly been smooth sailing, Kandi couldn’t resist a little playful ribbing when she spotted Todd relaxing poolside with his nose in a book.

Here’s where it gets funny: Todd was reading“Daily Prayers For Men,”a title that struck Kandi as hilarious given that in all their years together, she never once saw him with a book like that. In fact, she made a point of calling out the suspicious timing—now that they’re officially divorced, suddenly Todd’s hitting the self-help literature hard. The implication was clear: spiritual awakening via divorce proceedings. Todd initially wanted to fire back with his own comments, but after reading one of the prayers from the book, he apparently decided the high road was the better play. Call it faith in action.

What makes this story less about drama and more about growth is Kandi’s own framing. She captioned her video by saying that while she and Todd have been really nice on their co-parenting trip, the urge to be petty does creep in every now and then. That’s refreshingly honest. It’s not about pretending the split didn’t happen or that they’re suddenly best friends. It’s about two people managing to laugh at each other—and themselves—while keeping their kids’best interests front and center.

The divorce itself wasn’t without friction. During proceedings, Todd accused Kandi of relocating him to the guest house without his consent, court docs and all. Now they’re moving from legal filings to lighthearted jabs on vacation, which honestly feels like progress. It says something about the capacity people have to move past the hard stuff, especially when kids are involved. Sure, petty moments will happen—that’s just being human. But being able to share a resort, share laughs, and share parenting duties without constant tension? That’s the real win here.
