The“10 Things I Hate About You”cast reunion on“Dancing With the Stars”was one of those TV moments that instantly flooded timelines, but one key cast member wasn’t on that dance floor. David Krumholtz, who played Michael Eckman, posted an Instagram video explaining that he was filming a movie in upstate New York and couldn’t make it to Los Angeles. He said he would have“loved loved loved”to be there.
The reunion happened during Julia Stiles’Dedication Night performance. She danced a contemporary routine to Frankie Valli’s“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,”the same song Heath Ledger sang in the 1999 film, and then Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Gabrielle Union, Andrew Keegan and Susan May Pratt joined her in front of a photo of Ledger. Stiles and pro partner Ezra Sosa earned 36 out of 40 from the judges. Krumholtz reflected on their late co-star, saying he learned a lot from Heath and that he was“so authentic.”
Ledger died in 2008 at age 28, and the tribute landed as both a celebration of the film and a genuine memorial. Krumholtz added that he misses his friend every day, a sentiment plenty of fans of the movie understand.
