Dancing With the Stars did not waste any time in Season 35. Conner Leavitt and pro partner Adele Zaikman were eliminated at the end of Tuesday’s premiere, Night One, after scoring just 12 out of 30 for a Salsa to Tag Team’s“Whoop! There It Is.”If the name rings a bell, that’s because his wife, Whitney Leavitt, danced her way to fifth place last season. Big shoes, short run.
The bottom three was stacked with familiar tension. Guillermo Rodriguez and Connor Wood were also in danger of elimination, and Guillermo and partner Witney Carson actually posted the night’s lowest score at 10/30. Over on the flip side, Harry Shum Jr. earned the top score of the night with 21/30, followed closely by Ezra Frech at 20/30, as the male celebrities danced to hits from their birth years. Witney Carson, who is pregnant, kept the mood high with a message about empowerment for herself and other women. Conner’s farewell was just as gracious, calling Adele the greatest dance partner in the world.
Wednesday night flips the script with“Premiere: Night Two”and the female celebrities taking the floor. With a leaderboard this unpredictable and a bottom three that nearly went three different directions, nothing feels safe. So who are you rooting for after night one? Sound off in the comments and tell us which dance already won you over.
