Comanche County — Lawton Emergency Management Services will soon have a new leader. Director Clint Langford submitted his resignation Friday morning, giving three weeks’notice with an effective date of Friday, October 9, 2026. He notified county commissioners, County Clerk Carrie Tubbs, and the Lawton city manager by email at 8:29 a.m.
Langford’s career spans 35 years as a first responder. He spent nearly three decades at Fort Sill, rising from firefighter to Fire and Emergency Services chief before the Comanche County Facilities Authority hired him as EMS director on August 31, 2021. He said he looks forward to not being on call 24 hours a day, but he isn’t fully retiring. Langford is pursuing work in private industry.
Commissioner Josh Powers praised Langford’s tenure, saying he improved the system and turned the office around.“Whoever replaces him will have a big pair of shoes to fill,”Powers said. The county has not yet announced how it will handle the search for Langford’s replacement.
