Night one of Chappell Roan’s Super Graphic Spectacular at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium delivered a moment nobody had on their bingo card. Midway through the set, Christina Aguilera appeared as a surprise guest, performing her 2002 hit“Beautiful”before joining Roan for a duet on Roan’s Midwest Princess track“Coffee.”Roan, clearly stunned, briefly flubbed the opening line before recovering, and the pair traded verses into a harmonized finale.

Roan introduced Aguilera as the artist who“paved the way for me and all women in pop to do whatever the f—they want,”while Aguilera said she knew Roan was“a force to be reckoned with”from the moment she heard her voice. The two-night run continues Thursday with a stacked lineup of openers, and all proceeds benefit Roan’s Midwest Princess Project, which has raised over $800,000 for more than 60 organizations supporting trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.

Fan footage is already making the rounds, and it’s easy to see why: two generations of pop sharing a stage, mutual respect on full display, and real money going to the community. Which moment from the show would you have screamed loudest for?
