Bob Dylan Is Releasing a 39-CD Box Set With 371 Unreleased Tracks

Bob Dylan has announced what might be the most ambitious archival release of his career: a 39-CD box set documenting his complete 1976 Rolling Thunder Revue tour.“The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings”arrives November 6 via Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, and it’s packed with 381 tracks, 371 of which have never been officially released.

The set covers all 27 dates from the tour, which ran from April 18 in Lakeland, Florida through May 25 in Salt Lake City. Alongside the CD collection, fans also get a 3LP set of the complete May 16 Fort Worth show, remixed from the original multi-track tapes. Joan Baez appears throughout, joining Dylan for duets on“Blowin’in the Wind”and“Railroad Boy,”and the package includes liner notes by Mikal Gilmore plus rare photographs.

For longtime Dylan collectors, this release fills a major gap. The 1976 Rolling Thunder recordings have circulated among fans for decades but never received an official release until now.
